Some gratuitous cheesecake, and a really wonderful site on the women of Star Trek
None of the various Star Trek spinoffs ever had this, did they?

This comes from Star Trek Women: The Women of TOS, which is an excellent and very comprehensive summary of pretty much every female person (including aliens or whatever who were just pretending to be female persons) on the original Star Trek series. Definitely worth a look, I'd say. The question is, do I link it here, or on one of my other blogs? Where is the best fit? I suppose here, since the majority of that site seems to be devoted to slash fiction.
In fairness to the author of the "Women of TOS" pages, I must emphasize that the focus there is not on cheesecake, but rather a very well-documented critique of the oft-repeated criticisms that Captain Kirk was an uncontrollable horndog who fucked every woman in the universe (people who make this accusation never explain why that would be a bad thing, either--they just assume that everyone agrees that it is) and that the original Star Trek itself was a sexist show. I quote:
What this all boils down to is that "sexy" and "sexist" are not synonymous. An interesting question, therefore, is when and why did people start thinking that they were?

This page was born because of my righteous anger at Trek "fans" who repeatedly talk about "Playboy Kirk" or the Star Trek "Babes" in an appallingly sexist way. Here's proof that Kirk was NOT a playboy and Star Trek was NOT a sexist show. It was an anti-sexist show: one of the first, and one of the all-time best.Look also at the page for Nichelle Nichols, which I think is just fabulous. This sums it all up pretty well:
Lt. Uhura is arguably the empress of TOS: the jewel in the crown of the bridge crew. Dignified, beautiful, appealing, SEXY, emotionally mature, multi-talented, courageous, dedicated, intelligent, respectable, competent, unfailingly dependable, loyal to the bone, cool-headed and warm-hearted with a spine of steel, she exemplifies the best of the Star Trek women.Hell yeah!
What this all boils down to is that "sexy" and "sexist" are not synonymous. An interesting question, therefore, is when and why did people start thinking that they were?
